Overview
In CloudPE, Windows OS images are billed per core per month.
This ensures that your license cost scales according to the number of virtual CPU cores assigned to your Windows VM.
Pricing Formula:
Image Price = Number of VM Cores × ₹400 per month
Why the Billing History Shows Only One Core Price
In the CMP → Billing History, the displayed price for a Windows image is shown per core, not the total.
This is for reference purposes only — the actual total is calculated based on your VM’s number of cores and appears in your invoice.
Example Calculation
Let’s say you have a Windows VM with 2 cores for one month:
- Price per core: ₹400/month
- Number of cores: 2
- Total image cost:
2 cores × ₹400 = ₹800/month
Where You’ll See the Correct Price
- Billing History → Shows ₹400 (price per core, for reference)
- Invoice → Shows the total (price per core × number of cores × usage duration)

Quick Reference Table
VM Cores | Price per Core | Monthly Total |
---|---|---|
1 Core | ₹400 | ₹400 |
2 Cores | ₹400 | ₹800 |
4 Cores | ₹400 | ₹1,600 |
8 Cores | ₹400 | ₹3,200 |
💡 Tip: When planning VM deployments, always multiply the per-core rate by your VM’s core count to estimate your monthly Windows OS image cost.
📚 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Why does the Billing History show a different price from the invoice?
The Billing History in CMP shows the price per core for the Windows OS image.
The invoice calculates the total cost by multiplying the per-core price by the number of VM cores you have. - How is the Windows OS image price calculated?
We charge ₹400 per core per month.
Formula: “Number of VM Cores × ₹400 = Monthly Image Price” - Can I see the total Windows OS image cost before the invoice is generated?
Yes. You can estimate it using the formula above. For example:
1 core = ₹400/month
2 cores = ₹800/month
4 cores = ₹1,600/month - Does the price change if I upgrade or downgrade VM cores mid-month?
Yes. If you change the number of VM cores during the month, the cost will be pro-rated based on the time you used each configuration. - Is this charge separate from the VM’s base cost?
Yes. The Windows OS image fee is in addition to your VM’s compute, storage, and other resource costs.
